I Love You, Byeee

Adam Buxton’s first memoir largely focussed on his childhood. Through the lens of both then and now, he explored school, music, parents and his relationship to those things when he was young, and now that he’s matured with children of his own. In this second book he covers his career on television and radio, sprinkled with the usual Argument with Wife Log and some fond memories of his younger years.
If you were a fan of the first book, 90s television or Buxton’s podcast, this book is worth a go as it covers where many of the ideas came from, including frictions with long-time friend and collaborator Joe Cornish. In fact, pick up the audiobook version for a bonus podcast with Joe at the end. It’s a testament to the man that I think he’s funnier now with Joe than ever, and he writes sensitively about the pressures and mistakes of defining a career while the age of alternative or homemade TV was being defined at the same time.
Also, similar to the next book, there’s a good bit at the start about his appearance on the Bake-off.
