Here's another geopolitical podcast recommendation.

I took this slim novel on a plane and found myself glued to it for the whole journey. I am not a fast reader but I am a dedicated one, and there have been very few books that I ‘could not put down’. This was one of them.

Economist Ann Pettifor writes here about ‘The Global Casino’ the layer of society that sits in the upper echelons of hyper-richness, and has no fear of regulation, taxes or any accountability, and is free to gamble our futures away for their own gain. Pettifor very succinctly explains the housing crisis, shadow banking and other inequalities in the financial system, and I found it very enlightening, diving deeply into topics that I only had a superficial understanding of.

If I have any criticisms, the book may be a tad UK-centric, though there are other examples from other countries, as an Englishman myself, I very much understood the context for the explanations. On top of that, some of it naturally can get a bit dry. That said, if you're looking to get into political economics books, I'd say you wouldn't have to look much further that this great little book.
